The eScholarship Research Centre is involved in a number of conferences and workshops in 2007:

November 2007

2007 National Digital Forum Conference: Digital Realities - Communities, convergence and sustainability - The 2007 National Digital Forum Conference wil be held in Wellington, New Zealand on the 29-30 November 2007. "Digital realities: communities, convergence and sustainability" is the theme for NDF 2007. Gavan McCarthy and Joanne Evans will be presenting a paper at this conference outlining the story of the development of an online edition of the Australian Dictionary of Biography ( http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/adbonline.htm), its role as cultural informatics infrastructure, and the manner in which it can both connect to and connect up other online initiatives.

 

 

Clever Collections: a national showcase of technical innovations for digital collections - This is the final activity of the Australian Partnership for Sustainable Repositories (APSR). It is being jointly organised by the eScholarship Research Centre, APSR and Monash University, and is scheduled to be held in the week of 26 November 2007.

 

September 2007

Cultural Informatics Workshop for Humanities Scholars and Researchers - This was a free workshop hosted by the eScholarship Research Centre on Thursday 27 September 2007 for humanities researchers and scholars interested in exploring issues around the use of digital technologies in humanities research. More specifically, the themes included the implications of digital technologies and our emerging national research information infrastructure and how they apply to humanities research. July 2007

Legal Framework for eResearch Conference - The Legal Framework for e-Research Conference was held on Queensland’s Gold Coast during 11 and 12 July 2007. Seven international keynote speakers, together with prominent Australian research identities presented at the Conference.

 

June 2007

eResearch Australasia 2007 - A conference held 26-28 June 2007 at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, with workshops following on 29 June. The conference featured speakers from the Australian and international eResearch community. Gavan McCarthy and Joanne Evans held Workshop 3: Cultural informatics on 29 June.

 

April-May 2007

Educause Australasia 2007 - Educause Australasia 2007 was held 29 April - 2 May 2007 in Melbourne, Australia. Gavan McCarthy and Simon Porter presented the following papers respectively: Engineering Information for Sustainability and Turning Administrative Information Inside Out: A report on creating a University wide Research Portal based on Research, Finance, HR, and Library Systems. Gavan also chaired the session Institutional Management of Project Work, Innovation and Intellectual Property.
